Trying yet another finial.

With this finial I am much more pleased.
This finial was also turned from the ironwood but I used a black dye which turned it a nice brown color. I still need to apply some finish coats on it yet though.
Opinions please.

I'm definitely more pleased with this one and I think that by using the black dye the color better compliments the form now. It's much more in keeping.
If you look closely though you can see that the dye raised the grain, so I'll need to sand it back and possibly apply the dye once more with yet another sanding before putting on the finish.
If I had been smart I would have left it on the lathe in order to do this but my impatience took over :)
