Here's a hickory piece I made with the colors of the season Autum. So I'll just call it Autum. It's 9' tall X 5 1/4" dia. Airbrushed with yellow, red oxide,& black, Acrylic artist paints. Then top coated with gloss varnish. I didn't measure the wall thickness but when you inside the top you'll see light through most of it. All critiques & comments welcome.

That's a cool looking piece. Hickory is interesting anyway, but you added some neat detail.

Joe - you sure have these forms wired! Very cool looking wood and your touch of acrylic really adds to the look! Nice work!

Thanks for your positive comments. I've been really lucky at acquiring some really nice hickory over the last 2 years or so. It's working it's way up near top of my favorite woods.

Joe, another winner!! I like the autumn theme on this one. I assume the dark in the base was part of the wood color and not acrylic??

Thanks John. The bottom is actually painted with a combination of transparent color & opaque black acrylics. I tried to follow a growth ring around the piece. That's why the colors are higher on one side than the other.
