I used Evaporust for the first time tonight to remove rust from my bandsaw table. Well the rust came of easily but the evaporust left a lot of spots and streaks that look like stains or shadows. Any way to remove these?

Thanks,
Jack

Jack,
I found that scrubbing with a toothbrush eliminated the stains, but this was *before* I removed the parts from the evaporust. Not sure if they can be removed once they dry. Try applying more evaporust and scrubbing.

One thing to remember is that rust (iron oxide) is material eaten away from the steel or cast iron. It not something just on the surface that can be cleaned off. If the rust is light, using 220 grit wet and dry sandpaper lubricated with mineral spirits and/or 20 weight oil will clean it up to the greatest extent possible. I have an old Mikita 1/4 sheet palm sander I use. Just don't punch the dust holes in the sandpaper or you will draw the oil up into the machine. I finish off with 400 grit W&D.
