I need a favor. This forum has been great about giving good advice with regards to tool purchases. I'm looking at upgrading my little portable Delta dust collector and have found this grizzly 1-1/2 cyclone for $850.

I would like to keep it 110 and i like that this mounts to a wall.

I'm hoping for some feedback. Is it a good dust colector? Is it louder than most? Is the optional noise reducer kit worth the $40? Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you

Jason

I have that bad boy and I really like it. I used 6" metal duct from PSI and it works great. It sucks the sawdust from my unisaw through about 24 feet of ductwork. I built a closet around it to hold down the noise.

I have a 1200cfm Delta but I've heard the Grz is a nice unit. I put mine in a quit room also .2x6 lower upper left and right sides 2x4 stager between.Run insulation
weaved in-between the 2x4s two layers of 5/8 drywall. I only hear the air rushing into the 4" hose NO noise from the unit running.

One friend of mine got that one and had huge problems. Frame didn't bolt together like it should and he had to drill extra holes. The impeller that came with it was so out of balance that it broke the motor bearings. He got another impeller and it was unbalanced. He took it to a machine shop to see if they could fix it, and they wouldn't touch it. He sold it for parts. The low end Grizzly products can be hit or miss.

I have the 2 hp version and like it. No vibration or assembly problems but it is pretty loud, a seperate room would be a good idea.
