Well I was hoping to turn a couple of larger vessels this winter so I ordered the XL Sovereign hollowmaster. I have the standard length which has the flat on the bottom for stability. But when the XL version arrived today I noticed the flat was on the side instead of the bottom. I thought it was a defective one. But when I looked closer at it on Sorby's site, the flat does appear to be on the side. Seems like that would be prone to causing tool to slip down and back. Any one have any experience with this before I send it back?

I see the tool and it's like the original flat on one side round on the opposite. The flat side is for hollowing to help stop the torque the round side is for sheer scraping inside and outside a bowl and back to the flat side for also doing regular scraping. Hope this helps.

Well the Sorby web site doesn't say much about it but the picture shows the side being flat. I guess I'll send them an e mail and ask. Thanks
