I thought I'd borrow a little idea from "that other Pond refugee camp," and add what I hope will become a fun pastime here on SMC. Please excuse the truck, but it IS a work truck, not a show truck, and it's been used like a truck should be.

Pretty sad paint state for a painter's truck, huh?

And you know what they say about "the shoes the cobbler's kids wear...". I need a sticker or 10 like that!

you are kinda like the plumbers with leaky pipes. Ha
I'm a cabinet and staircase builder and trimmer with my own cabinets, staircase, and inside trim unfinished. Oh well--------

IF it runs fine and does what you need it's all you need. IF your clients frown when you pull up....well, salvage that decal and get a new truck!
I'm a GC with an unfinished house by the way....just got the cabinet doors made in Jan. after three and a half years of living in the house.:)

Cam,

Well, the truck has about 137k on it, 45k on the engine and 35k on the tranny. Runs great, but leaks everything--tranny fluid, oil, refrigerant and antifreeze. I'd hate to get another truck, though, as this one, despite its past mechanical problems has never left me stranded, it has always managed to at least limp home. Plus, I know it inside and out and could probably replace much of it blindfolded (ok, not quite). Reality, though, is that I will probably have to find something else in the next few years.

If you guys like the sticker, you'll have to talk to Keith about getting some...I won mine in a drawing at the EoP.

Jason,
I'm not sure what you do or who your customers are. I can assure you, however, that if your truck sheds its bodily fluids all over my driveway, you and your beloved truck can kiss our contract goodbye and be prepared for a lawsuit.

Maybe, hopefully, I missed your point.

Dale,

I check the driveways before I park there...if they are already covered with oil spots, I'll park there, if not, I'll park in the street. It doesn't leak ALOT, just a few drips in the course of the day. I'm a painter--I have to be aware of what drips I leave behind. :D

Jason.
It sounds as if you are one of those contractors who would be welcome on my driveway. I apologize for questioning your professionalism. Thanks for being considerate and I wish that all of you great guys should work to your standards. :)

Jason, when the time comes to buy a new truck, consider the Dodge Ram. I have a 1995 with the 360 V8 and haven’t had a lick of trouble with it.

I like the decal, are they available?

My truck doesn't leak, it marks its territory.

BTW, just looking at the corner of the tailgate, it looks like you and I have the same truck. Mine is a '87 F150, but with only 67,000 actual miles. Got it from this little old man who only drove it on Sunday.. aw, you know the story.

Actually, it paves my driveway (oil + gravel = ?).

Close, but no cigar, it's a 1990.

Man, if that don't bring back memories. Remember, a long, long time ago, when you could walk up to just about any flavor car/truck and easily be able to tell what year it was by checking the "imprint" on the tail-lights? I was quite young at the time and my dad showed me that little trick. I used impress many of "the guys" with my "ability" to identify the model year of just about any vehicle they showed me. (Just by "walking around the car....") It was fun. No can do that anymore! Heck, I've even got a hard time telling what flavor the car/truck is, much less the year!

Bruce,

I made the decal/bumper sticker on my engraver. I will have some in the SMC gift shop in a couple of days along with more goodies we have been working on over the last few weeks.

Jason,
Back to the oil leaks. I'm a bit oversensitive. We had a roofer in a few years ago to do some minor repair. The driveway was only about two years old and "clean". Well, his truck did a MIssissippi River of Transmission fluid on the concrete.

My neighbor said that I should sue but I really hate those idiots who sue over "minor" or "stupid" things. "Let's work things out and all that corny stuff". Anyway, my wife was wild over the stains so I decided to do the next best thing to a lawsuit. I got her a two-gallon jug of concete degreaser and a scrub brush for Valentine's day. :(

Although it hurt for a long time, I think that the 2x10 which I caught straight in the face probably made me look more like Paul Newman than I did before. :)

That is one of the reasons that I don't have a picture under my name. Another reason is that I don't know how to do it. The last reason is that I don't have a picture which would not trigger the regergitation reaction in everyone but the CSI crew. :o

Dale, have you looked at the mug shots of the membership here? Aside from myself and one or two others, these guys are ugly!:D

Jason, Forget what Bruce said about the Dodge. You need to buy another Ford. The more Fords you guys buy the better my paycheck, which equates to more tools for me. Oh ya, don't forget the food that I can get for my poor little kids.
