I just bought a PM100 on an auction. Picked it up yesterday and the Grandson of the owner said that he thought that it had not been used in 15 years or so. It is a 1983 model with the green racing stripe. I have looked it over and it looks like it has not been used to much. The Grandson also believed that his Grandfather was the only owner of the planer. I started it up, but I had to pull the cover off the magnetic switch and do it manually from there. When planing a piece of oak that is 3/4" think and 8 3/4" wide it gets about half way through it and it stalls. I have a 3hp 3ph motor in my table saw and it sounds like it runs faster than the one in the PM100. I'm not sure if it is the magnetic switch that I have to start with the cover off or if this planer just does not handle the wider oak as well? I guess what I am wanting to know is if you have a PM100 does it stall if you run to wide of board or is it something else I need to look into? Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Print up a manual and go through the steps and get it setup right.Make sure that the infeed roller is not cake w/rust and shavens and make sure that the clutch is ingage all the way when planing.Far as the motor is concern, the TS is 3450 rpm and the planer is 1750rpm(I think).Post pics of the planer,PM100's are the best-----Carroll

Well, I figured out my own stupidity with this. I looked inside the switch today and was pondering and reading a little and it said something about 1 1/2 or 2 Pole. Hmmmmmm, so I put a two pole 30 amp in the breaker box and this planer will not slow down for nothing now and the magnetic switch works just fine. Here are some pics and please don't mind the mess.

Back View. Notice the walnut I planed with it on the left side of the picture. Sweet.
