Good morning all,
I'm building a partially built in media/dvd cabinet for my home theater. It will be built in a corner with an overhangin soffit. The only side that will be visible is the right vertical side, which is just inside the door to the room. Rather than just leaving the oak veneered plywood side visible, with the face frame flush with the side, I would like to add 1x3 frame panelling and panel molding similar to this:

The side frame will overlay the plywood side. I can't easily substitute the side frame for the side plywood because the cabinet will go through the wall into the adjacent furnace room. I designed it this way to keep the cabinet flush with the soffit, yet be deep enough to handle the electronics, and host the holes for the adjustable shelves.

I need suggestions on the correct method of handling the corner where the side panel frame and the face frame will meet. I am leaning toward this where the face frame is wide enough to hide the panel frame, then adding a stop chamfer:

If I could pull it off, I think this would look the best since it would minimize the line joint between the two frames. I just don't trust I'll get a clean gap-free joint:

Here's a third option that would might have two advantages: hiding the joint line behind the cabinet door, and there would be not line visible when viewing the cabinet side when walking into the theater:

Here's the area the cabinet will go into. Keep in mind, that the electronics are will punch through the wall to make access to the wiring from the adjacent furnace room. Please ignore the labels as they were intended for an unrelated post. Oh, the white baseboard will be replaced with build up oak baseboard but in front of an oak cabinet/stage to house the subwoofer.

The cabinet will match those I already built for the wet bar:

Thanks for any suggestions you may have. I'm fairly new to cabinet building (only built 4 or 5 so far).
Here are some simple drawings of the cab front:

To me, the third option is the best one since, from the front, the end piece will look like your face frame.
Option one would also be acceptable. I don't see anything wrong with it.
Option two seems too difficult to execute and a bad joint will really stand out.
