Hi Everyone,

This is my first post to SMC. Many thanks to all the contributors for all of the great information.

I'm at the point of purchasing a TS to replace my 25 year old 1 hp Craftsman TS. I have no issue in buying used tools. Where I need help is in determining the fair market value.

I have found the following package and was looking for input on its value.
Grizzly G1023SLW 3hp TS (purchased new in 2006)
Oldham 10" stacked Dado blades
Delta Tenoning Jig
Incra Miter 2000
3-1/4 HP Variable Speed Porter Cable 7518 router

All of these items are in excellent condition and have been very well maintained. The seller purchased them new and has built a few items with them. They are asking $1550 for the package. Is that a fair price? Is not, what would be a reasonable price price to pay?

Many thanks for any and all opinions.

Regards,
Charlie

seems high to me...i could be way off but i would think $900 tops...and that is considering it is all in perfect condition and you need and want all of it.

It's a good saw but the price is way off since you can get a new Left tilt with a riving knife for about $1200. I was going to say between $7-$800.

Well new, all of this would be:
G1023RLW $1225
Oldham Dado 100
Delta Tenoning 130
Incra miter2000 190
VS PC 7518 350
or total $1995
plus shipping

If you want all of that stuff, and in good shape, $1000 might be reasonable.
If otherwise, then a lower offer would be a better value.
I loved my G1023, but then I bought it new and knew its history.
If you keep saws for 25 years, or longer, then get a new one. The G0690 is very nice.
The new built riving knife features are nice and a big improvement.
Typically, an 8" dado is used on a 10" saw. This 10" dado may not be useful to you.

Good luck.

Agreed on the price being too high. Used G1023s go for around $500 in my area. It does sound like he's offering a nice package of accessories, but too close to retail to offset the possible problems of buying used.

I'm a big fan of buying used. The bugs are generally already worked out, plus you don't have to endure the headache/heartache of shipping damage. I usually look for prices around 50% of retail or less. That is a good, solid saw but there are untold thousands of them out there. They frequently turn up on craigslist for good prices.

I'd buy new stuff at that price. $1550 very high for used.
