I've acquired a sheet of what I was told was Paper Phenolic.
It is exactly what I need for a customer but the provider is not willing to share where they get it.
I've had no luck in finding a source for this item that has the following characteristics.
- .020" thick
- Brown/Tan in color (see image)
- Heat resistant (it will be back-lit with an incandescent bulb)
- Translucent (note the attached back-lit picture)
- Small quantity to start (20-30 sq feet)
Any help or direction on where I might find this product is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dick

I see lots of references on google for this kind of product. I did not dig into pricing and availability tho... but just wanted to mention that I have a supply of resin impregnated paper that may do what you want. Shoot me an email and let me know if you want a small sample to try...

you can find it easily enough (search for phenolic paper) but I haven't seen it that thin.
Not that it isn't out there.. just haven't seen it. Thinnest I've seen is .031
looks like a couple of dollars per sq ft

Check out PlayBak at
www.polybak.com (http://www.polybak.com)
Spec sheet at <http://www.polybak.com/tech_bulletin09.pdf>

The Ivory is uses in many model applications.

There are dealers in your area, but they may not stock all the variations.

I ended picking up the PB67VNF in Indianapolis when I made a trip in that direction
Locally it was not stocked.

It appears that the PB69VNR is what you are looking for.

This material is used on the underside of laminated counters to control moisture and counter stresses from the laminate.

Paxolin and paper based Tufnol should be fairly easy to find in very thin sheets - used for electrical insulation etc..
Another name is Richlite.

Note that the Tufnol name is also used for cotton and glass fibre based phenolic materials. Kite, Heron and Swan brands are the paper based ones.

Thanks to all who replied.
I'll be receiving samples soon on some resin impregnated paper.
The info on "polybak" looks very promising and the alternate names provided (Paxolin, Tufnol, Richlite) have also provided additional and useful information.
I hope to post results when samples arrive.
Thanks again. As always, this forum is a great and resourceful group.
