Seems interesting. Hollows and rounds made by laminating the sides to the bodies, like a Krenov plane. As a result, they are top escapement, not side escapement.

I saw this else where a few days ago...they don't look to be a premium item and as a moulding plane collector I have examples of all of these planes that I feel are definately of better quality..but having said that...if some reputable reviewer were to do a study I would listen ..but probably not be moved

Edited: A view of the bottoms of these planes would be useful. Having seen the LV Asian style hollows & rounds, the escapements may be the full width of the irons. I just can't tell. IF the escapements are the width of the irons, they should work fine.

However,I would fully recommend changing the shape of the tops of those wedges. That thin little nose sticking out the front will be super easy to snap off if struck with a hammer. The old ones had round or elliptical tops(later on) to prevent the top of the wedges from easily snapping off.

Showing them at WWIA. They have a note on their site that they will offer five planes initially.
Two hollows, two rounds and a rabbet. Pricing to be announced.
Shipping October or so.
I'm going to check them out.

They could have soles like these: http://www.leevalley.com/us/wood/page.aspx?p=64009&cat=1,41182 which might let them keep the escapment from needing to be narrower than the blade? Hard to tell from the photos.

An interesting take on the design but I'd have some concerns about clogging and my ability to quickly remove the clog without resorting to tools.
