is there any way to laser magnetics,without leaving behind that messy residue?

Paul not sure what type of magnetics, but have you tried putting transfer tape over it. The laser can go straight through the paper and make very little impact on the lasered finish. It can be easily removed.

As Frank says the paper transfer tape is good but if you are talking about the flexible magnetic sign material then do test it first to make sure it is laser friendly (the last sheet I got was a PVC compound and really not suitable for laser use).

Most of the white or colored magnetics are coated with a sheet of vinyl and should not be laser cut.

If it's just magnetic with no film on it then try transfer tape misted with water. My best results have been
cutting only part way and then it will break apart easily on the cut lines.
