What general types are you looking for, planemaking?

concrete workers use a float to smooth the concrete surface, fisherman use a float to suspend the bait a certain distance from the surface

lovely replies,

specificity...

i am looking for descriptions of any and all floats that shape, cut, abrade or otherwise form WOOD.

so, this would include planemakers and gunstockers floats. and any other floats that i might not be aware of that shape/form WOOD.

i have the understanding/explanation of the basic planemakers floats. i.e. face float: used for floating bed of plane.....

its all those other floats that i want to know about.

example: i saw a float that had ovular teeth wrapping all the way around, front, back and sides, all the down the shaft. i've seen another float with sets of teeth on two sides so that the teeth meet on one edge. this one looks great for corner work. the teeth are skewed also.

just looking for any and all info on floats that form WOOD.

thanks, dan
