Howdy everyone, I just wanted to thank everyone here for all of the help and encouragement they have given me this past year while trying to learn about turning, due to an unforseen set of circumstances I am having to pack up and sell my house here in colorado, been in this house for 23 years, I wish I could take my mini lathe and tools with me but will most luckly stay at an RV park while down there in AZ and wont have room for anything like tools. The plan is to winter around Apache Jct AZ, and while there decide where I want to end up from now on. I know this isnt turning related per-se so if this needs moved I understand, but I only visit this part of the forum and dont know anyone else in the other sections. I will check in and post as often as I can...but turning is done until I get settled somewhere next spring-summer, thanks to all! Tim

Tim, this is terrible news. Very sorry to hear all of this. Stay in touch and get back to turning as soon as possible. Dick

Thats too bad Tim. You should, at least, look up a local turning club in AZ and though them you may be able to keep up the skill set (or improve) while your in relocation mode.

Keep in touch.

Tim, even though you don't post your turnings, we enjoy your participation. So......we grant you a pass on "production" (you were at it pretty heavy this past week anyway!!), but we won't give you a pass for staying in touch!

We hope the best for you! Hang in there!

Tim,
Sorry to hear the news. I have a daughter in Phonex, AZ so I might get out there in the near future. Definately keep in touch with all of us.

That's a heck of a disruption right there! Good luck in the move! BTW, there's a Woodcraft in Tucson and Chandler, AZ...maybe one of them will be close by. I'm betting you'll be able to hook up with a turning club or someone. Best wishes and look forward to your getting back going!

Tim,
I'm not sure why all this is occurring and I'm not asking. I just hope the only down side of your move is the temporary loss of your lathe. I hope all is well with the important things. If not, God's speed in getting them back to normal.

Give me a holler Tim whenever you get a hankering for turning... I'm in south Chandler so not too far from AJ. Summers are terrible but the winters are wonderful. Good luck with your move. JP

I'm glad you're keeping your tools! Sorry to hear your having to relocate/rearrange your life. I wish you all the best and hope that you find a way to keep turning until you get situated... I'd go crazy without turning (it might already be too late anyway for me :) ) Keep in touch with us, plenty of stuff to study here :)

Sorry to hear that Tim!
On the bright side, we have a very nice club that meets the 3rd Saturday each month in Tempe (about 20 minutes from AJ depending on where in AJ i think) and Woodcraft would be on your way! We've got an all day demo with Chis Pytlik in November (on my side of town)!
You're more than welcome to drive out to my place on the other side of town, if you get a hankering to turn or it you just want to pick up some wood, and I'm sure other members of the club would be happy to offer the same. Good luck with the move and hope to see you soon!

Thanks for this info Kathy!! I knew that having to pack things away for the winter would drive me batty, it sounds like there may be some hope, once I get settled somewhere in AJ I will try to make it to the Nov meeting, that sounds like a lot of fun!

As I said over in WTA, we all wish you well and hope you can continue to stay engaged with turning, if only for the de-stressing it usually provides us.
Be sure to collect some chunks of desert ironwood if you can while in that area...they don't grow that stuff in Maine!
Take care of yourself and keep in touch!

Moving.... bites!
Not turning... bites!

But... SMC is still there so you can "keep a toe in the water". My own participation has been minimal of late due to major time constraints but it's still "home". Good luck with the relocation. Ever consider the left coast? Nice and warm mostly and there's plenty of wood. We're a bit odd "out here" at times but not unkind...

Tim, sorry you are having to move but TAKE THE LATHE!!!! Put it under the bed, throw out the spare tire and put it there, put it under the hood, anything but take the lathe. Your lathe is like a faithful dog (if you have a dog get rid of it and put the lathe in it's house) you know her, Love her and she loves you.

I hope to see you back soon. I am new to turning so I know I can't take credit for the thanks but I know you have given me tips so I extend my thanks to you my friend.

He'll be back, the Vortex is strong with this one.

I fully agree David, I have come to think of a lot of folks here as friends and I will post as often as possible, if I could afford a Toy Hauler Travel Trailer I would mount my lathe in the aft section and use it!! But I can wait a few months, by next summer things will hopefully be back to semi normal, thank you all for the friendship and support it means a lot to me! Tim
