I was told to just drive the T-channel into the slot made along the edge of a table top. Someone asked if I glued it in and look surprised when I said no.

What would you do.

Thanks,

Dave F.

Glue will make it hold better, especially if it is in medium or low density material. If your slot is tight and it took a little effort to seat it, you will be fine without the glue.

For 1/4" channel in 23/32 plywood, I've used 6-32 tee nuts. To secure the t track to the nuts, 6-32 3/8" flat head screws work well. It's more work to use nuts, but I can re-use the t track. The other method for securing t track to the material is to use specialized t track that has a shoulder at the bottom. There is one woodworking vendor that sells a router bit that routes the channel for the t track with the mini-shoulder.
