This is another piece I finished in last month or so, and considered for beast entry . It is a heavily spalted piece of silver maple I got during a club raffle recently. It was VERY punky and took alot of effort to hold together. The scalloping at the top is something I learned about from watching a demo from one of our club members as described in recent posting for Quinquefarious Ilex.

I did some texturing and pyro work to the scalloped edges and the finish is wipe on lacquer.
The piece stands about 7" tall and 4" diam. C & C welcome.

The wood is terrific..the neck treatment is unique and very interesting. I think it's growing on me.

That is really neat. The neck treatment is another one of those 'how is that done?' things....
