The October issue of Woodworkers Journal had a great article on making salad forks. So I made a couple of sets.

The one piece ones are quick and easy and I believe will make nice gifts. The forks with a contrasting wood handle allow you to use up some scraps, in my case, Padauk. I did find that drilling the hole in the fork blank exactly in the middle and straight was a challenge. The axis needs to be right down the middle of the handle with the fork blank equal on both sides. If you don't get the glued in handle blank just right, it is difficult to turn it between centers without making it look like a bad multi axis experiment.
