This was my first attempt at turning green using DNA to begin the drying process. I rough turned the walls down to 1/2-3/4". I was very pleased that there were only a couple of small cracks in the end grain. A little super glue and sawdust made them invisible.

I tried to keep the bark, but it would not stay. The sapwood was pretty punky too, but with liberal use of shellac (and the 80 grit gouge) I was able to save it.

Lots of twist and chatoyance on the side grain, hard to see in pictures.

I used shellac as a sanding sealer and finished with a couple of coats of WOP. I think I like using shellac, it sure seals up the wood so that the wood does not suck up the WOP.

It is about 9" in diameter and 5" tall. Wall thickness around 1/4".

C&C welcome.

Looks good I don't know why but the 3rd pic looks like a flat spot in the curve that doesn't look right to me,could be just the pic cause the others look good. but nice work really nice finish.
