Irene fortunately turned out to be a mostly non-event here-- moderate wind, couple of inches of rain-- but since I couldn't go play outside, and had a goodly emergency stash of 'hurricane fodder' to consume, my wife got a new sewing box to replace the plastic beast that's suffered one too many visits from the grandkids. Overall dimensions are 14 wide, 11 high, 9 deep (towards the back). The tray is 2 inches deep so it holds big spools of thread, or any item/tool up to 4 inches tall. Material is 5.2 mm maple/birch with oil finish. I confess to using Boxit to help do the captive shelf. Now trying to decide if I've a solution looking for a problem, or just a problem-- but mama's happy (the important part).

Like the inner box addition and also the contrast of the stain. Nice looking box.

Beats my old plastic one to pieces! And the black box joints look like stitches, so design-wise it works! I'll bet she's got it all filled up already.

Good work! dee
