My miter saw has a turnable knob at the end of the handle, when loosened allows the miter angle to be adjusted, when tightened secures the miter angle. The handle when tightened completely
won't hold and I can swing through the entire miter range. Now after
trying to tighten it down more the plastic handle cracked and it won't
loosen either. The bevel adjustment works fine. Has anyone fixed this before (other than Plan B buying a new saw).

Hi Mike,

I have an older version of this saw, and will check it later today. If I remember right there is a threaded rod that goes through this clamping mechanism, and a shoulder nut for the rod to drive against. Check to see if the nut is turning/twisting when its not supposed to - or if the threaded rod is bottoming out on something before cinching down the clamping.

Get a pic for us if you can....

I would say this most definitely can be fixed, so dont throw it out... (yet - Im often wrong) :)

Ryobi's website has parts lists.

(IMHO)
It's a toss-up as to whether it's worth the time/expense to repair it though.

I have a 10" Ryobi non-slider. It's not a bad saw w/the right blade,,,but,,,when it breaks something major, it's days are over.
