So I got a Stanley 246 mitre box. It cuts beautifully, but I have a question. It cuts perfectly square to the long edge, but not square up and down. It's easy to fix with a shooting board, but is it normal? If not, is it fixable?

Thanks as always....

I also have a 246, and I love it. What is sending it out of square? Is it the play of the saw in its runners? Are the uprights out of square? Is the platform sloped?

the part that is perpendicular to the long edge is perfect. the part that is perpendicular to the base is not.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about the upright rods?

They are fully adjustable.

PM me your email and I'll send you several PDF's from Stanley on how-to for all the models.
