Simple Trundle Bed

A simple trundle bed made from ash. With an expected baby this December, we needed better sleeping accommodations for visiting family, so now we have a day bed with 2 twin mattresses ready to accommodate any visitors!

The wife is going to sew up some fabric skirts for the bottom which I will staple/button to the underside of the framing to hide the lower mattress.

Alex, I like this a lot. Did you have a set of plans or is this your own design? Is that Red Oak?

I came up with the design myself, and the wood is ash. The finish is 2 coats of zinnser clear shellac, then 3-4 coats of em9000 waterbased poly from target coatings. I wanted the ash to keep its white color and not yellow from the finish. The picture actually makes the wood look more yellow than it is from the camera.
