I think I saw an article about this type of racing some years ago....is this where they modify a belt sander using a grinder motor (faster R.P.M.'s)and they race down a track until the cord comes unhooked?

I saw the same thing on This Old House when they were working on the house in Cape Cod. Takes a special track, no pit stops....

I have seen this as well, when I forget that I had the Belt sander on when I plug it in! :)

At AWFS this summer they held the BSRA National Championships.
BSRA - as in Belt Sander Racing Association. :-)

Maybe you all have seen this already, but if you haven't, then check out the video at http://www.accuride.com/bsra/
Very cool, and looks like fun.

After the Shebeast said no more motorcycle drag racing I pretty much gave up hope of ever racing again....hummmmmm

Lets see....I have a couple of long extension cords, and I bet I could put a belt sander on my birthday wish list, swap for a big block motor...wonder what grit they use???

:D

Al...hope springs eternal...kinda

Maybe my Crapsman belt sander could be useful for something after all.......
