I've been using a pallet on saw horses to process my bowl blanks. Not the best solution but it worked, and kept my back happy. I searched online and found a couple variations of a sawbuck and got motivated yesterday. Built from some scrap pressure treated wood left over from a deck rebuild. I haven't actually sawed anything up yet but I'm pretty happy with this.

I like it. Be nice to not have to bend over to cut up those blanks. Thank's for sharing.

Very nice build! I don't know if I'd feel right cutting up blanks and not having my back muscles on fire when I finished.

Nice buck and looks stout. I need to get another one built.

That looks great. I really need to take the time to make one for myself.

Hmmm, pressure treated lumber, it can be stored outside, GREAT, got to make me one of those.

That's the reason, it's staying outside in my driveway, since that's where I do most of my log processing. And I built it so if the top boards need replaced, remove the lag bolts, mount new 4x6's and re-bolt. That's the idea anyway.

I like it a lot. For me and the way I cut blanks there is only one change I would/will make... Those carriage bolts would have to be dowels because I tend to cut the bark side flat. This allows me better purchase for my tailstock. Methinks you have a winner here!

methink that you got a winner too BUT wonder why you only built one when you know that two would be better

Looks like it will save your back. One suggestion - you might want to take a circular saw and cut the two inside corners off the length of the two supports parallel with the ground. That will give you more surface area to better support different size logs instead of just the two corner edges. Here is a view from one end showing where the cuts would be.

I thought about that Mike, and I may yet do that. Would allow larger logs to be used.

Excellent design, Rob -- and very well made. You will be happy with this for many years.
