Went to an open-shop at a friends place and tried something new for me. I rarely turn end-grain or natural edge, and this combines both elements. Unfinished, fresh off the lathe. Have to let it dry a while then decide how to finish it. Around 8" (20 cm) across. Wood came from a tree that's falling down in a friends yard. This was a challenge to the group by Jerry Sambrook to get us all to try something new.

Cool with the little green thingies. Hope they stay while you finish it out. Always good to try something different. Makes a good excuse to buy some new tools.

You don't get mush more natural then the moss growing in the bark.

Looks freshly turned for sure! Good luck on the drying! No such thing as too slow.

Thanks, this was a fun project, I really hope the moss survives!

Looks like that would have been a fun little project!! Nothing more fun than turning green wood!! Hope you have a way to really slow down the drying! Looking forward to seeing it once finished!

Really a nice looking piece. If the moss stays that will be cool.

seal it before it cracks and let it dry slowly in a bag or something...........
