I just replaced an X-Axis motor on one of my Epilog Legend 36EXTs.

When diagnosing it they asked if it had a fan by the motor, it didn't.
I looked at my more recent one also (about 3 years old) and it didn't
either.

They said they had upgraded these to have a fan to help keep the
motor cooler. They sent me out a fan for both machines. It was
a quick and easy install.

Not sure how critical it is, or it is a modification for all machines,
but something worth checking out. This was the first I heard of
it and motors don't come cheap! So I thought I'd toss this out.

Sheesh, they must really be pushing those motors beyond spec'd limits...

X axis motor issues are not new with Epilog. I thought they had switched to a heavier duty motor 3 or 4 years back.

At least they are continuing to work on it.

Don't know about the EXT36 but the TT's rotary stepper motors are rated 12 VDC and they run them without current limiting at 48 VDC. I don't know what the servo motors are rated but I think those are run at 48 VDC as well.
