I bought an old Delta lathe and found this piece squirreled away in the storage cabinet. I googled the number (as best I can read it) and can not figure out what it is. The hole in the middle is fully threaded. I don't even know if it goes with this lathe, but I can't stand not knowing what it is. Any ideas?

It looks like the lock piece on the bottom of your banjo or the bottom of a tail stock.....

yep, to me it looks like a clamping plate that goes on the underneath of your ways to hold a banjo on the lathe.

Well, if that is what it is, it must go with some other lathe or some other accessory that I don't have because the threaded hole is too small for the bolts on my banjo or tailstock. Oh well. Thanks!

It's called a gizmet. Every piece of used machinery comes with at least one. Typically it's from another machine entirely but no one could remember what it was for either and that's how it ended up in the box with the machine you bought.
