Delta variable speed 460 lathe and remote turn on.

I have an extra remote switch from a dust collector and was thinking of using it on my lathe. I was wondering if it make cause any harm to the electronics in the lathe itself?

It is generally a bad idea to switch off the power to a variable speed drive while it is running. I don't know any specifics on the Delta controls.
