This is a little birdhouse I made this weekend. The sides are ash, the top is carved hickory that has been dyed black and the perch is ebony.

Baxter:

I used my Dremel tool with a rotary chisel from rotarychisel.com The top was then dyed black with a lot of the dye removed before it dried. Finished it with a rattle can varnish.

Donny - The top has a tenon on it that fits down inside the body and there are 2 screws on the side to hold the top secure.
