Am driving from southern Ontario to New Hampshire, approx 9 hours, to pick up a number of items (price difference between Canada and US is criminal) including a Grizzly G0454Z and planer, both are packed in wooden crates. Do I need to wrap the crates in tarps or are they waterproof enough the way they are shipped from Grizzly?

We bought a 19" Grizzly band saw at work. The crate it came in was only thin slats with wide gaps in between.

I wouldn't even really call the packing from any machine I've bought, grizzly or other, "water resistant". From what I've seen of Grizzly and UPS, the first chance they would have to be outside is at the point of delivery.

Wrap/cover it.

Some risk ... no reward ;)

If you are expecting rain then I would definitely cover it. Better safe than sorry. A G0453Z is in the wooden crate 3rd from the front. It would survive in a sprinkle but why risk it.

Take tarps, and thoroughly wrap them. Or drag an enclosed trailer behind you...
