for projects. I'm making some pepper mills that call for a 1" x 6" long hole. I'm trying to do this without turning the piece around so I need something 6" long or more. Of course I'll be chucking this up in my tailstock. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. Alan in Md.

I like the Milwaukee ship augers. Never used one on a lathe but for general use I have settled on them for my use. My largest one is 1 1/2" diameter x 18" long. Quite a bit!

...I can't believe you don't use the LAB drill bit.
