Apparently the purest alcohol we can get here is 151 proof Everclear. To get any higher proof they ask for a commercial license.

Is 151 proof good enough?

Why would you pay for 151 when reagent grade acetone is dirt cheap???? I bought 2 pints of the acetone for $14.00 ea. and haven't gone through the first pint yet. When it comes to optics go with what the mfgrs suggest. Of course I can't drink my acetone and you can drink your Ron Rico. Check out sciencecompany.....com

I have been using acetone but but Reci specifically says not to use acetone on the laser mirror/window.

Be careful with the acetone some manufacture suggest not to use it and yes 151 is strong enough and that is what Epilog uses.

Craig,

I bought mine from sciencecompany.com. When I bought my first machine (LMI) they were very specific about using this grade of acetone, and also was instructed not to use alcohol.
