I had a lovely piece of Shedua lumber and could not resist making a hollowform from it. About 8 1/2 wide x 7 high. (my camera makes everything appear shorter & squatter than it is in real life ) I love the method as it used less than 1 1/2 bd ft of lumber to make this. Tiger Eye cabachon.( no matter how I tried I could not get the tiger eye to show in the picture. It matches in colors perfectly to the bowl both light & dark) Sanded to 600 & waxed.

That is some pretty wood.

I really like how using a board made that pattern with the heart and sapwood. Cool effect.

Nicely done.

Nice job. This piece works for me. I love the Yin/Yang feel of the piece and the pattern down the side. The little top is a very cool touch.

Saaaawwwweet!! Sawtooh pattern is great and the strong shoulder angle is really cool! Soft finish work well. Seems like retirement is treating you well!?

Beautiful Michelle. Fantastic vision with this piece of wood. Did you get the top piece to line up as well on the other side?
Cheers, John

Cheers, John Hey John, good to hear from you. OF COURSE:D it lines up on the other side. I am a master of woodturning! ;) When I cut the 8inch x16 inch board in two, I used one for the "bowl" and one for the lid. I adjusted the lid to match the color division. It took a bit to do it, as I had to set it a tad off center and had a distinct offset, but I just turned it off. Magician , I am!!!

Michelle, That is a very nice piece, it has sort of an Art deco look to it, and the wood is beautiful! I have thought of making one of the bowls from a board, but it is still on the list of things to do.

Hope to see more creativity from you soon,

Jeff
