I have been turning for many years, but just got around to trying to photograph my pieces. So I purchased a "table top studio" outfit and away we go. This bowl, from a few years ago, is a glue-up(Elmer’s yellow) of walnut and hard maple, 14-1/4” D x 3-1/2” H, 3/8” T at the rim. The blocks are oriented so that the bowl face is all end grain. The bowl was sanded to 400 grit; polished with turning chips; followed by many coats of shellac; and finally, lightly polished with auto body polishing compound. Yes, I enjoy joinery. There is something about the dull smack of perfectly flat pieces as they are pushed together and the look of nearly invisible glue joints that I find very soothing!
This is an application of one of my many shop rules – “I only turn what I glue myself.”
C & C welcome.

Nice job. After all of that glueing, I might have been tempted to leave it as a round cutting board!

Jerry, your rule sounds like you may have been a paratrooper - pack your own chute! Very nice joinery, and a nice undulating pattern.

That's neat looking, I really like it! Love the way you joined everything...way different from what one might expect.
