Ok. I have never really dealt with corian much. I have worked with small projects made out of acrylic on occasions and polished these with a buffing wheel after sanding. But I am having three or four sheets of corian about 28" x 13" engraved and wanted to finish the material to a reasonable high gloss. At least a good semi gloss. At this point I am sanding with 320,400,600,1000,and 1200 grit. Gives me a slight sheen but not as shiny as I would like. So what method or polishing materials do people use? Thanks in advance.

1200 will not get high gloss on lacquer or varnish so I would not expect it to on Corian either. Keep going 1500, 2000, etc then use a polishing compound just like you would doing a car.

Abralon. It is foam pads for your ROS that go up to at least 4000 grit. The really fine ones work better if you mist the surface with water.

Thanks. I'll look into abralon. Does anyone have a particular polishing compound they use?

Once you get up to 1500 or 2000 grit, you can buff with Novus 2. This will be available at your local plastics houses. It is used to polish clear Plexiglas or Lexan. You could use white auto buffing compound as well. Use compound sparingly and light pressure. I like the MacGuire foam buffing balls.
