One of my hobbies is collecting and restoring old shaving memorabilia. Everything from old strops, straight razors, double edge razors etc. You didn't expect a wood carver to use an electric did you?
Naturally this lead to me making my own shaving stand, bowl and brush. This isn't a restoration.
It's made from Cherry and stands about one foot tall. The bowl holds one of my soaps and the razor ( bad photo) is a late 1940's Gillette Super Speed that is one of my favorite razors out of a collection of 70 or so razors, not including around 50 straight razors that I've restored as well. The brush is held in place with a hidden magnet and the handle is filled with a Badger Silver Tip knot.
Just fun stuff. Hope you enjoy it.

Beautiful carving Mark. I've enjoyed making a few shaving kits, but this is really a top notch set and stand, and ingenious with the magnet.

Fine work indeed! What kind of finish do you use?

Thank you gentlemen!
In this case I used Poly over a sealer coat of CA. For my brush handles that I do in wood (and used regularly) I just use multiple coats of CA.
Granted,, this is more of a "show piece" , but I do use it in my rotation of accessories. I just think it looks cool sitting on one of the counters in my bathroom along with some of my other pieces.

Nice job Mark. Your carving is really great. I like that look a bunch! I do have to ask, is this a decorative set of meant to be used??

Mark,
It is exquisite and creative. I am a double edge razor user and your carving is fantastic. Do you sell them?? I would definitely be interested.
Congratulations on the creativity.

Thanks guys,
If I make it, I'm gonna use it. And I do. Like the old Doritos commercial said " Hey, we can always make more".
As far as part of my collection goes here are a few shots of some of my brushes ( and some restored straight razors) I've done and use.
