I feel silly not knowing this. But I'm so used to working in Photoshop
and I really don't care much for curved text, so I rarely run into this.

I'm trying to put text inside a circle, curved to match the circle.
I've done it before, but it was probably a ham fisted approach
back in Corel 3 or so .. it's been many years.

The text is breaking up in the middle of words, putting some
of the letters above the curve, some below.

I"m still ham fisted with text and Corel.. I keep hitting the Help
file, finding something vaguely related to what I want to know,
and then forgetting 50% of it by the time I get back to my file.

Do I convert the circle to an object? Then Fit Text to Path?
Is this too basic to answer? I wouldn't bother anyone, but
I've been doing it for over an hour and not quite finding what
I need..

Chuck,

I don't now if this is what you are already doing, but I make the circle first, then choose the typing tool. Hover over the circle until the cursor changes and click, then type. Once the words are there, you can change the font, size, etc. The red triangle allows you to move it along the line to position. To make it above or below the line, you can either grab it and pull up or down or you can go to the menu bar and choose the style you like from the pulldown.

I have had issues with typing the word first and then attaching to path - sometimes it does wonky things. That's why I do it the other way.

It might help to make the typing tool default small to start with and avoid making the words go around too crazily, but it shouldn't matter.

Good luck, dee

that did it .. I had to put on my magnifiers, but I found that the
text pointer changed to a ~ sign, and that wrapped to the curve.

THanks, Dee!!

I type and space the text first then fit to the path. I've had some quirky things occur if I tried to kern the text after fitting it to the path. I find that X5 is better than X3 or earlier versions about typing on the path.

I wonder if the kerning and X3 were giving me fits.. it would (seemingly randomly) flip the
text upside down in the middle of a word.. put some letters above or below the line.. it
was making me crazy! I just needed two little words...
