I've been needing a decent miter box. I don't mind doing some tuning up. What do you think? They are asking $5.

Grab it. The M-F boxes are some of the finest made, and that's a bargain.

On the other hand, five bucks will buy you a tasty lunch at White Castle.

Yes,but don't ask for lettuce and tomatoes or they will yell "We ain't got none" at you. At least they did that to me in Baltimore.

Is this some kind of a stealth gloat? Hold the mayo, please.

I'm in agreement on the "stealth gloat" theory...even the teeth look good on the saw, which is like a winning the hand tool lottery in it of itself. The saws I get look like they were filed by me a couple years ago..

I paid $20 for mine, with the saw, and consider that a bargain.

Just remember to clamp it down (or permanently screw it to a plank) in use, for the best results.

That, and sharpen the saw which probably is the reason it wasn't used more - this thing looks cherry.

Do any of the Millers Falls experts know if they made miter boxes for Wards POWR-KRAFT? I picked up a model 84-3975 at an auction a couple of weeks ago and it sure looks a lot like the same, without the badges. The button in the handle reads " Warranted Superior" with an Eagle and shield. It is a heavy outfit and a large heavy saw about 26" by 5". I was the only bidder at $4.00 I was happy with my purchase at the time, but I think I got a better deal now.
