I am so amazed about this. Last summer we had weather like that in July (108°) and this year it has been a comfortable 80°. (Sorry, not a boast, just a weird fact) This is really strange weather.

Pretty much same story here in middle TN, but not quite as bad. We're in the upper-90s with temp, above 100 in heat index. We just got back from around Panama City Beach where it was in high 80s and low 90s. Felt like being inside an AC building compared to this place. No way can I get into garage to do any woodworking.

Partly cloudy and 58 here, at about noon. Supposed to get up to about 75 later when the sky clears. Maybe you should move to the northwest. This is the second year in a row that we have had wetter and cooler summers. My lawn is nice and green and I have yet to water it this year.

Sadly it going to be as hot for the next 10 days, at least according to weather.com. Joe, my daughter lives in Eugene, Or and I'm thinking I need to move in with her. I love to visit her, the PNW is a great place.

112 here now. We broke a record today for hottest average temp during the summer which beat the old record during the Dust bowl. We haven't even hit our hottest time of the year (normally in August).

It rarely gets 100 here, I don't gripe when it does lol I just turn the fan on, it's been over 110 everyday for the last month for my young buddy and his friends in Sangin, Afghanistan.

Just like last December when we got 22" of snow in one day, I was wishing for a little warm weather, maybe we should have just said this is great fun! They always say to be careful what you wish for, I guess a lot of folks wished for warm weather at the same time, so here it is. We have been just under the 90 mark for the last week or so and before that it was in the high 90's, but the humidity has been hovering around 75-98% and that just makes it unbearable to be outside. It has rained the last few days and then the sun comes back out and it feels like a sauna, but tonight we get a break in the humidity as a little cold front is coming through and the lows are supposed to be in the low 60's instead of 70-75 over night, much better for sure.

I hope you all in the middle of the nation get a break soon, the weather is just one of those things we will never get a handle on as it is ever changing living thing.

Stay cool,

Jeff

Jeff, send that cold front down this way. Turns out the high was actually 113 not the 111 forecast.

Around 80 down here... slightly humid, not too bad. Its usually over 100 this time of year... Not complaining!

I lived in Kerrville Tx. in the late 70's, early 80's and there was a month of June where it never even got under 100 for the whole month. Get up in the morning and it would be 104 at 5 AM, and then it got warm. It was dry in Kerrville, but I had to go to Houston and there it was unbearable with the high humidity.

Now I am up by Canada, and lately it has seemed like Houston, 90's with humidity in the 90's. I'm working outside and drinking about 3 gallons of water in an 8-10 hour day. I hate sweating! Beats snow though......

101 today, 103 tomorrow with a heat index of 115, and the potential for a Emily to head this way. Summer in the south . . . you gotta' love it.

Funny thing though is the weather in S.E. PA. is not much different than what you're having. I've been comparing the temperatures here to the temps. in Orlando, FL. There's not much difference. You might stay hotter longer during the year but how many snow shovels do you wear out?

LOML and I just returned from a two day trip to Oklahoma to attend a funeral. I never thought i wold consider Houston cool. We were at the cemetery at 11:00 AM and it was 104. Driving home my truck dash temp was 113 to 114 most of the time. Got to Houston where it was a cool 90 degrees. WOW!

This time of year we are typically over 100º everyday for about 3-5 weeks. We haven't hit 100º yet this year. It's supposed to be 93º today.

My wife and I just got back from a really nice bike ride along the lake as we do several times a week, and barely worked up any sweat as it's a very pleasant 70.

So far, this isn't even the hottest summer in my lifetime. But it is getting close. I think today was the 44th day over 100 and the last week it has been over 107 everyday. The real problem is we have had no moisture either. There's a chance of a temperature break 6-7 days out.

Weather patterns in recent years have gotten just crazy with extremes all over the place. One summer it might be hotter than hades and the next summer it is so cold and rainy that a visit to hades would feel good. Weather is rarely average these days.

Our Boy Scout troop goes to summer camp every week in mid July in Northern Minnesota. They choose mid July because it is usually warmer by then. Two years ago it rained every day and the highs were around 65 degrees. Nobody wanted to go into the water. This year it was miserably hot at camp. Highs into the lower 90s with dewpoints at or above 80 degrees most of the week. The all time record dewpoint for Minnesota was recorded not far from the camp during that week. Everybody wanted to be in the water this year!

What a difference a day makes!! Today, Sunday, 8/7, it is 84 and cloudy. So far we have had a 6 inch rain meaning a drop falls about every 6 inches but it has totaled .02". I can stand out in it and not get wet but maybe it is the break we have been waiting for.

My motto is: If it's 100 deg. in the shade, then I just stay out of the shade! Simple!
I'm a 'summer' person, when hunting season is over in the fall, I don't come out of the house. I HATE the cold. So, I can't complain about both. I choose winter to complain about.
When you go out side, and 'snap' four dogs off the same fire hydrant, THEN you have something to complain about..:D

:D:D:D:D That's a riot. My air conditioners cycled off this afternoon, the first time in two weeks I think.
