Anyone ever use these types of calipers? I picked them up on the bay for $4.95 because they looked cool. For spindle work, especially repetitive or working from a drawing, they should be a big help. I looked them up on google and ran across a “new product” in a 1942 issue of Popular Mechanics. They still work great. The throat is too short for bowls but they should work fine for boxes or similar items when gauging wall thickness. They are very quick to set and easy to read.
The Veritas brand is available from Lee Valley. They are more than I would spend but a production turned could be very helpful.

I have absolutely nothing to do with Lee Valley, just one of the places that have them listed.
