. . . and of my 50 year old body! My tree guy called on Monday to tell me he had a walnut tree for me. This is the second of two loads of I cut:
203480

Here is a picture of the two loads after all the bark and most of the sapwood have been cut away and the blanks have been sealed:

203481 (there are 3 non-walnut pieces in there as well)

I needed a day in between the two loads for my aches and pains to subside! I think it is less the cutting and lifting that gets me than it is the bending over to anchorseal the ends.

There is still one long section of trunk left, but it is smaller in diameter than the ones I cut and I don't know if there is enough heartwood in it to justify the effort. I tried turning a few pieces out of my last walnut tree that incorporated the sapwood, but I found that it mildew-stained and cracked when drying so I am going to stick to the heartwood for a while.

Thanks for looking!

Marvelous find. The stack of sealed blanks like that must put John Keeton in a horrorified state. All he can think of is what your floor around the lathe will look like after turning all of them:eek::eek::eek::(:)

Dick, I am sure John Keeton will already be aghast at the messy pile of lumber and the drips of anchorseal on the floor! Lest the shop police pay me a visit, I want to assure everyone that I will restack and clean now that the anchorseal is dry.

Nice haul. Looks like plenty of bowls. You will probally be tired of walnut before you finish it all. Walnut does turn well.
