Walnut and Zebrawood Flying Rib Vase,
7.5" x 5" Lacquer Finish
I feel pretty good about the construction techniques on these. Still trying different forms.

Now that is nice! Great choice of woods!
Are you able to give away any of your 'trade secrets' on making something like this?!

Nice work, John! I don't care for this form as much as some of your others, but it's beautifully crafted as always. I really appreciate you willingness to try new things, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next.

Very cool John. While very visually inpressive on its own, I have to be honest and tell you that I thought to myself how I would love to get my hands on a piece like this and pierce the fins all the way around!! Maybe we should do a colaboration piece someday!! :)
Great work, as always.

John, even with this new direction, your work is instantly recognizable! Very nice piece - beautiful wood combo, and a very clean look. I am so glad you are doing well with this venture. Along with your substantial talent and artistry, your humbleness and open personality will carry you far!

Thank you all for the kind comments.
Charlie: I definitely had flying buttresses in mind when I started playing with this. Glad you caught that.
Scott: Funny you should mention piercing, as I have drawn this with cut-outs but liked the continuous grain of the zebrawood. A collaboration might be fun.
John K: I really appreciate the kind comments and encouragement.
