I have been thinking about getting a drum sander, mostly for endeavoring into instrument making. I was looking around last night and boy I really didn't want to spend a grand on one.

This morning I was thinking, I really doubt I will find one locally, but i checked craigslist and behold there was a Performax 16"-32" drum sander listed up Friday, so I called and it was still available and only about a half hour from me. so I drove over and picked it up. It has the out feed extensions, and a box of a half dozen or so sets of paper and a new feed belt installed. Looks quite lightly used... out the door I got it for $360 ... I think I got it for a fair price...

Nice find. What do you consider a fair price? Just curious if I should even look.

That was a steal ! You'll love it, I'm sure. I bought a used Delta 16 x 32 and I use it on almost every project. I especially like it to pre-sand everything after planing to remove the planer marks. Finish sanding is a snap now.

Great buy.

Yeah - you suck. I've wanted one of those for a long time. If I found one for that price I'd be happy for the rest of the year, at least!

Jim, His asking price on CL was $395, and when I got there and talkied with him he said $375... so I offered $350 and then said I would do $375. He said well I will buy you some gas, how about $360 so I took it.

His wife is a very talented Woodcarver as well. All around great people to know.

I looked for a deal even remotely close to this for months, and then finally caved and bought my 16-32 new last month. So you definitely suck. :)

I've seen 2 on CL... one guy wanted $900 because of all of the "free sandpaper" and the second had one that looked *well* worn [out] and wanted $750 for it with paper. At $360 you suck *big-time*, Andrew! :)

I must live in a used tool black hole market. There are hardly ever any used tools listed in my area and nothing like that great gloat! Congrats. I'm definitely jealous. I was forced to order new, so pulled the trigger on the Grizzly 18/36 open ended drum sander (G0458). Backordered until Aug 5th.

Sounds to me like you should go to jail for a theft like that....................... :-)
