Here are a couple of toothpick holders that a lady asked me to make for gifts. These are spalted maple with the pith left in them. You can see it in pic's 3. These are finished with a couple of coats of shellac from flakes and then 3 light coats of lacquer.

Thanks again. She came and picked them up. She was absolutely delighted with them. I had some walnut one's at the gallery but she wanted a lighter wood. She said they were perfect.

Bernie, Those are beautiful. That last pic really shows the wood. How did you cut out the top of the holder and keep such a nice grain match?

Great looking toothpick holders and she had reason to be happy. I have made several of those but made the cup deeper so if someone pulled it out to far the toothpicks do not fall out.

Boy Bernie, these are very nice.
I had a lady ask about toothpick holders the other day. I may have to go back through my Wood magazines(I think that's were it is) and find the article about making some simular to these.
Thanks for posting these beauties.

If we had enough teeth in these parts we would make them

They look really nice. I will have to save some smaller blanks and try a few of these!
