202618Hello everyone,
Picked this up on Craigslist, for 375.00, think I did ok.
First jointer for me, sure to have some questions, stay tuned.
Think I need to check that backwards motor mount thread again, adjusting threads, knife setting threads, etc. ettc.
thank you

Eric

That version DJ20 was a good design, built in Taiwan rather than Brzil or China. You did really well. They typically go for two to three times that. If you try to adjust tables, there are set screws at four points that need to be loosened before you move the eccentric discs. If you use a dial indicator to set knives, reference the cast iron part of the table rather than the bolt on insert near the cutterhead as they often are off several thousands. Check the fence also as they are not always flat. Not being critical. They are still at the top of the pile for current 8" jointers. Dave

Very nice score. I have the same jointer that I bought used from a fellow Creeker a few years ago and I absolutely love it. Very accurate, easy to use and produces consistent results every time - a real workhorse.

Best deal I've ever seen on a DJ-20! I got my '98 model for $575 and thought I was doing great! YOU SUCK!

Run some wood through the jointer to see if it really needs adjstment. If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It! Best case scenario, probably fresh knives is all you need to be in business. But, as you mention, there are plenty of threads on the parallelogram table adjustments and knife setting. Enjoy your DJ-20!

Eric, again, you got a SUPER deal on that jointer. Grizzly is having a sale on their Byrd heads right now. I believe the one you need is $329. WELL worth it for a jointer like that. I got my Byrd head (and new bearings while I was at it) for the $329. Cuts like a dream. You won't be sorry you did it. Best thing is that with the low price you bought that for AND the Byrd head, you could turn around and sell it for $800-900 quite easily...and possibly more if you find the right buyer (someone who really appreciates what you have).

If I had seen that bitmap photo, I'd have been the first to say you SUCK. I ended up with a different jointer, but the DJ20 was on my list. And if it had been available at that price, it would have been mine. You won't be unhappy with it.
