Got a new banjo for it from Jeff Nicol and it is fantastic. I'm having trouble with the tailstock though. The little key that holds the tailstock tube keeps slipping out. Any advice?

If you can find some green locktite AKA sleeve retaining compound it should keep it in if you are referring to the pin in the top that keeps the quill from turning.

Or is it the keeper plate that fits in the slot at the rear? There is a setscrew from the crank handle side to tighten it down. They also call for a couple of drops of oil (dripped into the slot) every few months to keep it lubricated. If the screw is somewhat loose and the plate is dry it may be pushed out as the crank is turned?

Hilel, Glad the banjo got to you, but I am not sure about the Nova tailstock, if you have time or still having trouble post us a picture so we can see the issue.

Hope all is well with you my friend,

Jeff

Thanks all. It was the keeper plate, and it is fixed now. I do want more people to know about that banjo, so I'll post it in a new thread.
