OK, so this is about the 5th or 6th HF now, walnut, about 4 x 4. Fairly pleased, not crazy about the bottom. It wound up a bit smaller than I wanted. Sold three others where I work, so at least somebody likes them.....:D

Coming along, I hope. Lots of things to remember, getting a bit easier now. http://photos.imageevent.com/richinva/turning/hollowformsurns/websize/walnut%20hf%204x4%207-20-2011.JPG

Thanks for looking. Maybe I'll work on that light tent a bit this afternoon......not that I need it or anything.........

Nice one Rich. Some pretty grain on the wood. What did you finish it with?

Very nice warm look to this one. I like that soft glow. The shape looks good to me as well and the foot diameter doesn't seem out of place.

Since you didn't ask for C&C I'll leave it at very well done! Walnut sure is pretty!

C & C always welcome, anytime. That's the way we learn.

Thanks.

Rich

I like it, Rich! I think the proportions are great! The only nit would be to try and tuck under that foot a little more... It seems like I always wish I had done more when I get the form off the lathe.

Rich, I like it, and count me among the few that do not really care for the tucked foot. I know it is the rage, but.......

Ok...since we are goin' that way...the only thing I'd work on is the lip...ease it up a bit from the shoulder and it's a bigger winner!! Shape it great!!

You mean a bit more of a cove? Shorter?

Yep, darn few that come off with 100% satisfaction.

And I agree about the foot. I made another one this evening that's a bit "tuckier".

Richard that is a nice looking piece. Nice form and finish. Bottom looks good and so does that walnut.

Richard, that's a nice piece, and I love that finish. Very well done! I would agree with a nip and a tuck top and bottom, but that's nitpickin.
