This is mybfirst time posting here. I am a cabinet maker 16 years and dont like talking shop in my spare time. Typicaly I am hanging out in the turning forum.

Lately I have been gluing up sapele for turnings with west system and a large amount of the finished product has been splitting on the glue line. In 16 years I have never had a glue up with west fail.

Would tire bond 2 be a better choice of glue for sapele?

What do all you creepers have to say?

Thanks,
Mike

Titebond 2 will work fine with Sapele. It sounds like you have used epoxy a lot so what I'm going to say is directed more toward those that haven't. Epoxy needs some roughness to adhere to and shouldn't be clamped as tight as titebond. It also helps to apply one coat let it soak in for a minute or two then apply another and clamp.

Thanks for the reply Steve.

Ive glued miles of mahogany and teak with west and never had a problem. This sapele is such garbage and moves so much when cut. I will give TB2 a shot.

I'm almost exclusively using Sapele these days. TBIII has been working great for me also.
