LOML found this at a garage sale a while back. After extensive research at Ol Blood and Gore, along with a couple other places, I have an idea but I'm still too new to this to be sure. Marked with the S/B made in USA and the Stanley embossed blade, I've come to think it's a 5 1/4C. It does have the corrugated sole, but is 12" long and has a 2" wide blade. I really don't know too much, so I leave it to the experts here to take a stab at its' ID. Thanks

It's a 5C that's had a couple of inches cut or ground off its back end.

I agree. But why butch a perfectly good 14" #5 for just a 2" reduction? As James mentions, it'll probably work just as well. The five's are not really jointers, but can work that way to some degree.

Maybe a piece chipped off and they just cut it off to remove the jaggedness. Who knows.

Yeah John, that's what I am thinking. I got it for $5.00, so no complaint there. This will be a user after I do a little cleanup and a good sharpening. Thanks for everyone's help

Make a good scrub plane if you don't have one.

People do some pretty baffling things to tools! Maybe they used the offcut as a tombstone for a hamster?

A hamster named "SoN"?
