Not sure what to call this, too many voids to call it a vase. It is mesquite burl, about 8-1/2" tall. I would have liked to make the bottom smaller but was not sure it would survive (there are voids in the bottom also).

Well, Dennis, I would call it a very attractive art piece!! Very interesting - and, I bet it was interesting to turn, as well!

That looks pretty good! I hope that there wasn't too much hand sanding involved!

Turned plenty of air myself and know how difficult it can be to get rid of tool marks, chatter and keep it together. You did an impeccable job with both it appears. I also really like the sapwood at the rim. Very nice.

Dennis, I don't remember seeing this piece in "show and tell"! Very cool, did it sound like a propeller when it was spinning on your lathe? The back part kinda looks like a chair back, maybe it's some sort of exotic reclining chair for a very small person? :-) Very well executed whatever it's called!

It looks like a piece that would keep you on your toes while turning it. Nice job!

Very nice Dennis. I did not notice any saw cut edges that had to be carved or shaped. Very interesting piece with the different limb/trunk sections and open space. I hope to get to see it up close at local meeting or SWAT in August.

Very interesting piece. Looks great. Hard to imagine the difficulty in getting that piece turned.
